Mixed Media Painting on Found Plywood and Cardboard
70 inches by 48 inches, Signed Young in two places
Purvis Young was a self-taught artist who picked up paint and brush as an adult, inspired to paint his feelings. He lived and worked in Miami, painting in an alleyway on found pieces of wood, cardboard boxes and paper salvaged from the trash.
This piece shows three trucks, one in the middle shown from the back, with rolling wheels and his wavy-lined figures of workers moving in between the large vehicles.
"I see guys working, making a living with trucks. I love to paint trucks. The truck taken the place of the horse and buggy. The truck make works for the peoples. I create about the works." Excerpt from Soulsgrowndeep.org
