Jacques Francois Joseph Saly (France 1717-1776)

 A set of four framed etchings from 1746, part of a series of ornamental vases that brought much attention to a young Jacques Saly. Saly had the favor and patronage of Louis XV and Madame Pompadour, who likely brought the artist to the attention of the court. The designs for vases were influential in the movement toward Neoclassical tastes. Examples from the 1946 series reside in the collection of The Met, The Getty, and several other major institutions
