J. & L. Lobmeyr Coupe
In my search of the perfect glass, I finally circled back to this elegant example of purity in form, function and material. I first saw this angel at MOSS in Soho. Designed by Ludwig Lobmeyr in 1856, this series has been in constant production and is made of lead free crystal glass. They call it muslin glass, inspired by the french silk fabric. Though I can't imagine anything more inspiring than this champagne coupe. Twenty + years after that first sighting, I was able to purchase quite a few at an estate sale ca. 1920. What could be better than the image of a flapper sipping champagne from these coupes? I suppose you sipping from them!
