Trompe L’oeil Majolica Alvaro Jose Caldas da Rainha Plate

In the tradition of Palissy, this is a trompe l’oeil ceramic decorative plate with lobster and mussels on a bed of sea weed.  The plate was made by Alvaro Jose in Caldas da Rainha, Portugal. The decorative plate is faithful to the style of Palissy and the traditions of Portuguese majolica. 

The plate is in excellent condition with no breaks or repairs. 9 inches diameter by 2 inches.
