Chinese Export Porcelain Plate circa 1800

This is a fantastic example of the fine porcelain coming out of China in the 18th and 19th centuries. The European factories had not achieved the level of craft that was practiced in the east. Ordering a set of Chinese porcelain was extremely costly and came with the risk that the set may be lost at sea or damaged en route. Or that the armorial details were lost in translation, resulting in a full service of china with incorrect monogram or heraldry. 

This plate has such incredible details showing the skill of the craftsmen who were painting the porcelain. I think it was made for the French market who were probably the largest customer for Chinese porcelain at the time. 

There is one loss to the edge of the plate, though it does present very nicely and would be a wonderful addition to a cabinet collection. 9.75 diameter and 1.25 in depth.
